Greyhound at Rest Original Folk Art Painting On Board by Matt Rix

This original folk art painting by Matt Rix depicts a greyhound standing in elegant side profile, facing left across rolling green ground beneath a soft pink sky. The dog’s elongated form is rendered with confident simplicity, while the stylised white clouds give the scene a gentle, nostalgic character.

Painted on board using reclaimed household paints, the work has a strong sense of material honesty & quiet character. It is presented in a hand finished wooden frame, painted black with a subtle gilt inner edge & lined with antique backing papers that add depth, texture, and history.

Signed by the artist, this original celebrates the distinctive grace & quiet dignity of the greyhound. It works beautifully alone, while also pairing with its companion painting, Greyhound in Motion.

Matt Rix is an emerging British folk artist known for his naïve paintings of animals, portraits and nautical scenes with work in private collections worldwide.
