Huge Narwhal & Steamship Large Original Folk Art Painting by Matt Rix

This original folk art painting by Matt Rix depicts a very large narwhal swimming beneath a steamship with sails, creating a striking maritime scene. The monumental scale of the narwhal gives the work a strong presence, while the vivid blue sea and simplified forms add to its bold, timeless character.

Painted on board using reclaimed household paints, the work is presented in a hand-finished black wooden frame with brass corner detailing, chosen to echo the maritime subject.

The largest painting Matt Rix has painted to date, this is a true statement piece. Signed by the artist, it brings together his distinctive naïve style and enduring fascination with nautical subjects.

Matt Rix is an emerging British folk artist known for his naïve paintings of animals, portraits and nautical scenes with work in private collections worldwide.
